American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Synopsis
It follows Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her extraordinary mind helps her solve a crime as she rearranges evidence during her shift as a cleaner at the police department. Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory and extensive knowledge of the secret, Morgan commits a series of basic legal mistakes that anyone who has ever watched a TV legal show would know he shouldn’t have allowed. In episode one, for example, he retrieves a document from a locked safe in the suspected victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court – illegally obtained evidence.
admissible in court
It also could not be used to obtain other evidence – a violation of the “fruit of the poisonous tree” legal doctrine. In episode 2, she has to be reminded to put on gloves before handling evidence at the crime scene, and in #3 she removes all the documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of prisoners and everything she removed is gone too. Remake of HPI (2021).
It really derails in episode 3 and I hope episode 4 really improves
Ok, the series is off to a great start and Kaitlin Olson is putting in a solid performance. The series is very similar to the TBS series Monk, where a borderline Asperger helps the police solve crimes. Again, the series is solid so far, but not as quirky or fun to watch as Monk, but it’s a fun watch.
A tactic that would have dropped the case
In this episode, she is overconfident and defends the case. He takes evidence from the police station, tampers with the evidence and contaminates it. CONSEQUENCES?
Again, I hope it improves with episode 4
Zero…. It’s almost distracting how annoying she is in this episode. He shows almost no evidence of self-awareness or remorse for his actions.
